Strange New Haven January 04 2015

Moving to New Haven, CT was the start of a new chapter in my life: new city, new business, new friends, new dog. As far as the shop goes, we've done well so far and have had some great support. The city has been treating me and Strange Ways well, and I can't thank you all enough for helping turn my dreams into reality.

I hope 2015 will be a big year for Strange Ways. I'm not trying to do this as a hobby. I want this to be my business—“my life,” so to speak. I'm glad Strange Ways is connecting with people through the online shop, but that's only half my goal. The hope is by summer, Strange Ways will set up shop permanently.

If this store happens, it will be in New Haven. The city is undergoing a revitalization. Already known for its food; jobs and housing are growing steadily. There's money being invested everywhere by the city, and people in town are making changes for themselves. The climate is ripe for creative types and entrepreneurs, too. There's great things going on in New Haven—and I think Strange Ways can thrive here.

I've been searching exhaustively for months for a storefront that fits our budget and size. In doing so I've explored a lot of the city; investigating the neighborhoods, other shops, where the good spots are, etc. I've been making connections and doing research, too. It seems like every other day I hear about a cool new spot opening up, new event, new place to visit. It's difficult to keep track of it all! That's why I decided to create a guide for the city.

Above you will find a link to what I'm calling the New Haven Field Guide. As someone new to the city, I know this would have come in handy not just for finding a business location, but also for hanging out and having fun in town. I hope it shows the buzz being made here. When Strange Ways finally sets up permanently, you can see we'll be amongst a mix of great restaurants, shops, galleries and more in New Haven.

Thank you again for the support of Strange Ways. I hope one day soon we can add our storefront to this guide.
